One School / One
Book
Everyone at AMHS is reading Three Cups of Tea
by
Greg Mortenson. Middle school students will read the
"young readers" edition. Freshmen will have their choice
of either edition.

What is the Book About?
In 1993 Greg Mortenson, attempted to climb K2, the
world’s second tallest mountain, to honor his deceased sister . After
helping to rescue a fellow climber, Mortenson lost his way, became ill
and eventually found his way to a remote Pakistani village named Korphe,
where the villagers cared for him. To show his gratitude, Mortenson
promised to build the first school for the impoverished village.
Eventually his work led to the start of the Central Asia Institute and
the building of more than 50 schools in rural Pakistan and Afghanistan.
