Morning Announcements 3/31/2023

Got a sweet tooth? The Student Council is hosting Cupcake Wars THIS FRIDAY in the cafeteria. Teams of two will compete to decorate cupcakes based on a theme. Designs will be judged at the end of 45 minutes and the winners will take home a trophy and the titles of master cupcake artists. Think your cakes can’t be topped? Check your email for the registration link. This contest is open to all students and faculty! Price to enter is $10 per team of two.

Interact will be running a Pet Drive for Animals in need from March 27 through April 14. Please bring pet supplies and drop them off in the box in front of the main office. Donations will go to support local animals and provide the supplies they need.

During the months of March and April Noelani Milord and Emma MacDonald will be holding a drive that will be collecting NEW & UNUSED items like chapstick, blankets, unscented lotion, inspirational bracelets, coloring/crossword/word search books, colored pencils/crayons, and warm clothing to be put into care packages for breast cancer patients in treatment. A donation box will be in the lobby for students and faculty who would like to support the patients of South Shore Health Foundation. This drive is a service project for the National Honor Society.

  • Avon Middle High School now is offering after school tutoring! High School students will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays in the Library with Ms. Messina and Ms. Berardi.
  • Middle School students will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays in room 135 with Ms. Tyler and Mrs. Fuller.

HIGH SCHOOL 

Attention sophomores and juniors: Are you interested in running for office? Mrs. Pyne is now accepting candidates for next year's class officers. Officers will work closely with their advisors to help make decisions about activities and fundraisers for their class, as well as represent their class at Student Council meetings. Nomination forms can be found in your email and are due Friday, 3/31. Any questions? See Mrs. Pyne.

ATHLETICS

  • Avon varsity baseball beat Norfolk Aggie 16 - 4 for an opening day victory. Ryan Luddy and Jordan Medeiros combined for 11 strikeouts. Offensively, Jason Maguire and Zach Mayo scored four times and Ben Mayo, Anthony Fuller, and James Lerardi hit the ball hard. Avon plays on Tuesday versus South Shore Vocational
  • Baseball practice 2:30-4:30 at Noonan Field
  • Softball Practice at Crowley Field 2:30-4:30 bus leaves at 2:20

MAIN OFFICE

  • All Emergency form packets should now be in the front office. If you have lost the packet, see Mrs. Cartwright or Ms. Bernardino for another copy.
  • Charlie Card bus passes are now available in the front office, and can be used on the Bat Bus.
  • Detention is held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and detention will be in room 230
