Important Reminders for 2017-2018 School Year

Good evening from Paul Zinni, Superintendent of the Avon Public Schools, where students receive a World Class education to become lifelong learners and responsible citizens in a global society. I am writing to you this evening to provide you with a few important reminders as you prepare for the 2017-2018 school year.

School will begin on Wednesday, August 30th for students in grades 1-12 and on the following Tuesday, September 5th for our preschool and kindergarten students. Please note, to assist you in preparing for the new school year you will find bus routes, school lunch menus, school annual and monthly calendars and much, much more on our district’s website, www.avon.k12.ma.us.

Additionally, as some of you may be aware, Avon Public Schools has been working with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education regarding an incident last year at the Middle-High school. Since beginning this process, we have revised our training curriculum, which all faculty and staff will be notified of on Monday. It is our goal to keep the lines of communication open between the schools and the public. Those who would like more information can read my full statement on this matter under the news section of the district’s website.

Finally, the start of the new school year is an excellent time to review with your student rules for staying safe, such as, stranger danger, crossing busy intersections, and for our older students, driving to and from school safely.

It is my sincere hope that you and your student have a wonderful start to the new school year.
