Good Evening - This email is from Paul Zinni, Superintendent of the Avon Public Schools, where students receive a "World Class" education to become life long learners and responsible citizens in a global society. I am reaching out to you this evening to let you know about a few important events which are scheduled for the month of October.
First, the Avon Public Schools' Safety Committee will be meeting at 9:15AM on October 4, 2017 and the Health and Wellness Committee will be meeting on October 9, 2017 at 9AM. In the past, these committees have been comprised of teachers, administrators and representatives from the community. As we begin the 2017-2018 school year, it is my hope that we will be able to include parent voices to our discussions, by adding one to two parent representatives from each building. If you would like more information or you are interested in servicing on one or both of these important committees please call me 508-588-0230.
Next, the Avon Public Schools is pleased to join with our neighboring communities to present a Community Forum on K-12 Education with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's Acting Commissioner, Jeff Wulfson. The forum is scheduled from 6:30PM - 8PM on October 11, 2017 at the Abington High School.
In addition, the towns of Randolph and Avon are working together to sponsor a "Household Hazardous Waste and Medication Take-Back Day." This event is scheduled for October 21 2017.
Also, the Avon Board of Health will be offering two Flu Clinics, October 12, 2017 from 12PM to 6PM and October 26, 2017 from 4:30 to 7:30PM. Information about each of these events is available on our website as well as the town of Avon's website.
Finally, it is our goal to keep you informed about the many important events occuring in our schools. I encourage you to visit our website at www.avon.k12.ma.us to learn about what is happening at your child's school, and for our Middle-High School families, you can receive an email version of the school's daily announcements by simply clicking the "notify me" icon and following the directions provided.
We hope that your child's school year is off to a wonderful start.
