Emma MacDonald and Kylie Anderson each scored crucial baskets down the stretch in a 30 to 28 victory over Atlantis Charter. Kylie Mallett and Hanelie Cadet led the way for the Panthers with 11 and 10 points a piece while Dahlia Parent had a tremendous night rebounding.
The Boys Varsity team beat Atlantis Charter 77-41. The Panthers had an offensive explosion on Senior night led by Senior Captain Andre Cordero who had 51 points coming 5 shy of the single game record (56) set by Hall of Fame Kevin Miranda 07’.
The Jv Boys Basketball team beat Atlantis Charter 49-34. The Panthers came out strong offensively. Josiah Guerrier had 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Our Give Kids a Smile Game is this Monday, February 14 sponsored by AMHS Cheer. Kick off your week and support the cause by coming to watch our Avon Panthers Boys basketball teams take on the West Bridgewater Wildcats! Wear purple and donate a kid's toothbrush, toothpaste, new markers, crayons, or coloring book! If you can't make it to the game and would like to participate, find a cheer representative to give your donation. Thank you to our community members who have already helped kids smile!
The Athletics Department is happy to announce that due to the decreased number of COVID cases, we are able to allow students and others to attend games! So come and support our panthers! Just a reminder that all individuals that enter Avon Middle High School are required to wear a mask.
Black History Month:
Today we honor Victor J Glover Jr. who was born on April 30, 1976. He is a NASA astronaut of the class of 2013 and Pilot on the first operational flight of the SpaceX Crew Dragon, named Resilience, to the International Space Station, which landed May 2, 2021. He was selected as an astronaut in 2013 while serving as a Legislative Fellow in the United States Senate.
Before becoming a NASA astronaut, Glover was a commander and test pilot in the U.S. Navy, where he flew 2,000 hours in over 40 aircraft and 24 combat missions.
