Avon Varsity Baseball lost to South Shore Christian Academy yesterday 5-4. Avon tied the game in the top of the 7th on a double by Charlie Dean, but ultimately lost in the bottom of the 7th on a game-winning double. Pitching well was Ryan Luddy, striking out 9 in the no-decision. Jordan Medeiros and Nate Maguire hit the ball sharply for the Panthers. Avon plays on Wednesday against Westport.

The Avon girls got out of a jam in the first and held the Aggies scoreless in the 4th and 5th, but the powerful bats of the Aggies put the game out of distance in the second and third innings. The Avon girls strung together several hits in the 4th but could muster only one run in the inning. Avon's next game is this Wednesday at Westport. Final score:      Norfolk 21   Avon 1
