The girls kept the game close at 9 to 4 going into the 4th with Hanelie Cadet driving in two in the second inning and the girls squeezing out two more runs in the third inning on some good base running. Agatha DaSilva made some good plays in center field and Grace Robertson was solid behind the plate. However, Westport rallied in the later innings and put the game out of reach.  The Avon girls play again at SSC on Friday (5/13) at 3:30. Final score:    Westport 22. Avon 4

Avon bats awoke on Wednesday, erupting for 11 runs to beat Westport 11-6. Wilfred Torres powered the Avon offense, crushing an opposite field 3-run homer. Nate Maguire joined the hit parade on senior night, going 2-4 and playing stellar center field. On the mound Jordan Medeiros pitched 5 innings, striking out 6 to hold the Westport bats at bay. Nick Olszewski pitched well in relief to close out the game. Avon plays at home on Saturday against Randolph.
