National Hispanic Heritage Month

Today we honor Luis Walter Alvarez, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1968 for his study of subatomic particles. 

7th and 8th Grade Washington DC Trip:

There will be a virtual meeting for anyone interested in registering for the 7th and 8th Grade Washington DC Trip on Tuesday, Sept. 28th at 7 PM. Athletics:

Girls Soccer - Emma MacDonald played an outstanding game in the loss to Norfolk Aggie. Jadyn Bowyer and Brynn Gaynor also played well for the Panthers. The girls will face Holbrook at home on Tuesday.

The Avon/Holbrook Bulldogs opened their season against the Wareham Vikings on Friday with a double overtime win 28-22.  Matt Lind and Jaden Colon were great on the Defensive line. Brady Sheehan and Marlow Narcisse were a great force in the run game.

The boys soccer team played Rising Tide last Friday to a loss. Playing well was Ryan Luddy and Mike Morais, who scored the Panthers one goal. The Panthers' next game will be tomorrow, September 21, against Holbrook.

Student Council:

Student Council is accepting applications for representatives in grades 9-12. Please check your email for more information.  Applications and recommendations are due by Friday, 9/24. Questions? See Mrs. Pyne

Attention freshmen and sophomores: Are you interested in running for office? Mrs. Pyne is now accepting candidates for freshman and sophomore class executive board. E-board members will attend Student Council meetings and work closely with their advisers to help make decisions about activities and fundraisers for their class. Nomination forms have been emailed to you and are due by Friday, October 1.

Notifications:

Starting today the morning drop-off location for high school students has changed to the back entrance of the Middle-High School off of Page St. This will help to ease the congestion in the front of the building. High school students who drive must park at the public library across the street and will enter the building through the front lobby. All late arrivals enter through the front lobby.

MIT:

MIT is hosting a 9-week long Biotechnology in Action free virtual lab program for high school students for the Fall 2021 semester. Applications are currently open and will close on September 26th. For more information, see Ms. Shepley in Room 232.

ACES:

ACES, Avon Coalition for Everyone's Success first meeting will be happening today at 2:15 in the school library.  Stop by if you're interested in SALSA, Team Rival and other future events.  If you have any questions see Mrs. Isidor in room 101 

MBTA Charlie Cards: 

The MBTA Student Reduced Fare Charlie Cards are now available for students in the main office. 

Reminder:  Emergency forms are due.  If you have them, please drop them off at the office.
