National Hispanic Heritage Month

Today we honor Sonia Sotomayor, she is the first Hispanic woman to serve as a US Supreme Court Justice. Associate Justice Sotomayor, was nominated by President Barack Obama on May 26, 2009 and has served since August 8, 2009. She is the third woman to hold the position.

7th and 8th Grade Washington DC Trip:

There will be a virtual meeting for anyone interested in registering for the 7th and 8th Grade Washington DC Trip on Tuesday, Sept. 28th at 7 PM. Athletics:

Emma MacDonald had a hat trick and Brynn Gaynor had a great game with 2 assists, but it wasn't enough as Avon lost to Wareham 4 to 3. The girls are now 2 - 4. 

The Boys’ soccer team played Wareham yesterday with a loss of 4-1. Scoring the game's only goal was Harly Beauzile. The Panthers next game will be a home game against Bishop Connolly on Thursday, September 30.

Student Council:

High School Student Council will meet right after school this Friday in Mrs. Pyne's room. All high school students are welcome to join us (and all class officers and e-board members are required to attend)!

Attention freshmen and sophomores: Are you interested in running for office? Mrs. Pyne is now accepting candidates for freshman and sophomore class executive board. E-board members will attend Student Council meetings and work closely with their advisers to help make decisions about activities and fundraisers for their class. Nomination forms have been emailed to you and are due by Friday, October 1.

Hip Hop Club: 

Do you like to dance and have fun??  If so...the Hip Hop Club will be having its first meeting on Friday at 2:10 in the auditorium.  Please see Ms. Murray if you have any questions. See you Friday!!

Diversity Club:

Are you a middle school or high school student that enjoys the uniqueness of our diversity at AMHS?   Do you want a place where your identity is accepted and celebrated?  Then Diversity Club is for you. We will discuss topics that will celebrate all types of ethnic differences in our community as well as the LGBTQ+ community. We will discuss how to celebrate our diversity and create positive change at AMHS.  The group will meet every Tuesday with Ms. Wagner in Room 128 at 2:15.  Meetings begin on September 28. We can’t wait to see you there!

Art Club:

The Art Club's first meeting will start today after school until 3:00 in room 308. Please contact Mrs. DiChiara with any questions.

Notifications:

This Wednesday, September 29, there will be an extended detention (2:10-4:10) held in the library for all students currently owing an after-school detention.  Any student owing an after-school detention can use this added extended detention to help satisfy their owed detentions.

If you are a Senior who is planning on applying either Early Action or Early Decision, please make an appointment with Mr. O'Donnell as soon as possible, if you have not done so already.

Jordan's Furniture is hosting two Enchanted Village Job Fairs in the month of October. If you are over sixteen and looking for work, please see Mr. O'Donnell for more details. 

MBTA Charlie Cards: 

The MBTA Student Reduced Fare Charlie Cards are available for students in the main office. 

Reminder:  Emergency forms are due.  If you have them, please drop them off at the office.
