Morning Announcements

Today is the first day of Red Ribbon Week 2022. Red Ribbon week is a way to show support for those who choose to live a drug free lifestyle and to honor all of those whose lives have been affected by substance abuse.

Here is the STATISTIC OF THE DAY

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse- Youth who start drinking alcohol before age 15 are six times more likely to become an alcoholic. (statistic may change)

You will have the opportunity to pick up a red ribbon to wear, another ribbon to tie around a tree at your home and a letter with more information about Red Ribbon Week at lunch today. If you are “caught” wearing your ribbon at lunch during the week, you will receive a raffle ticket for the chance to win a gift card at the end of the week!

Also if you are interested in some community service afterschool today please see or email

Mrs. Isidor in the conference room.

ATHLETICS

The Holbrook Avon Bulldogs loss on Homecoming 24-22 to St. John Paull II.  Thomas Irby started the Bulldogs off early with a 50- yard touchdown reception.  Kenzel DaSilva added 102 yards on the ground and a touchdown, but it wasn't enough to stop St. John Paul's air attack.  The Bulldogs will travel to Bourne next Friday.

On Friday, Avon Varsity Volleyball celebrated Senior Night with a 3-0 sweep against Atlantis Charter. All 5 Seniors rallied together in the first set edging out the win 25-22. Consistent offensive plays at net were made by Jessica Salawu, Fadila Mouhieeddine, and Joenardie Fleuranvil. Serving aces by Captain Jaime Durodola and defensive digs by Captain Valencia Jean also contributed to this exciting last match of the season on our Panthers home court.

The JV Volleyball team won their home game against Atlantis Charter 2-0.  The Panthers dominated with their great serving and ball control.  Gabriella Marroquinn came out strong in the 1st set with 12 serving points and Giana Malave followed in the 2nd set with 10 serving points.

Again, thank you to everyone who participated at Avon Volleyball's Dig Pink Game in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. Donation items will be collected at all our home games and for the remainder of October. If you are unable to make a game, collection boxes are located in the AMHS Library or RM 235. Continue to support the cause and wear pink on any athletic game day!
