Morning Announcements 10/28/2022

Today is day five of Red Ribbon Week 2022. If you are “caught” wearing your ribbon at lunch today, you will receive a raffle ticket for the chance to win a gift card.

Thank you to everyone who participated in Red Ribbon Week 2022 to support those who live a drug free lifestyle and to honor all of those whose lives have been affected by substance abuse. Together we are strong.

ATHLETICS

  • The JV team loss their final game of the season to Upper.  The Panthers played well offensively, but could not stop Upper Capes strong serves. Uwa Idada had a great game at the net and Ayva Parker led the second team with strong team leadership.  Thank you Panthers for a fun and exciting season! "PERIOD"
  • Girls Soccer Home Game Vs South Shore Christian, Friday, October 28th at 3:30 
  • Boys Soccer practice 2:30-4:00 at Noonan
  • Football Away game AT Bourne Friday, October 28th at 6:30 bus leaves at 2:15
  • Cross Country Practice 2:30-4:00 Bus leaves at 2:15

The Avon Volleyball Varsity team had a spectacular showing for the last match of the season, sweeping Upper Cape 3-0. Valencia Jean played flawlessly as middle hitter and defensive specialist, leading the Panthers to their final victory. Kylie Andersen had 6 blocks with Jessica Salawu matching 6 offensive spikes. Manaelle Narcisse had 17 serving points with 5 aces. Kylie Mallett, Agatha Da Silva, and Valerie Salawu contributed with consistent digs allowing for strong offensive attacks. 

Lastly, thank you to the Avon community for supporting Volleyball's Dig Pink Game and Breast Cancer Awareness month! We collected 186 items, which will be donated to the Cancer Connection organization that supports individuals and families affected by all cancers. We look forward to seeing you next season!

National Junior Honor Society:

Candidate Forms are being handed out this week to interested 8th and 9th graders.  If you would like to join NJHS, please fill out this form and return it to Ms. Wagner by October 31.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Attention high school students: Tickets for homecoming will be on sale $20 in the café, today is the last day to buy your ticket! The dance will be held @ the VFW Parkway in Avon

Buy your yearbook now!!  Save $10.00 and get 4 free icons if you purchase a yearbook today (10/28). The cost will be $75.00.  you can still save $10.00 if you purchase a yearbook before 12/16. The cost will be $75.00, after 12/16 the cost will be $85.00, if you have any questions please email Ms. Hill

The High School Student Council will meet today at 2:30pm in the library. All high school students are welcome to join us (and all StuCo members are required to attend)!

Cards2Connect- Holiday Card Challenge

The National Honors Society is partnering with Cards to connect to complete “The Military Holiday Card Challenge”! Join us after school on WEDNESDAY, November 2nd to write personalized, signed expressions of respect, caring, and gratitude to US Troops, Veterans, and Service Families. Your cards will be sent to military persons stationed all over the world. 

Our card writing party is open to all students grades 7-12. 

WEDNESDAY, Nov. 2nd, after school in the library. Students who participate will earn community service hours. Come join us and write meaningful messages to spread hope this holiday. If you have any questions, speak to Ms. Howe or to any member of the NHS.

Win $50 of candy!

Ending on Halloween day at lunch, the Interact club is having a Guess-o-ween event where you can win a jar of candy with a $50-dollar value. For just a dollar you get two chances to guess the amount of candy in the jar and the person closest to the answer wins. You can buy an unlimited amount of guesses and all profits will go to a food drive planned for November.

PICTURE RETAKE DAY is on November 1st, So wear your Sundays Best!
